Queensland’s coffee culture has gone from strength to strength since the Merlo family introduced the first espresso machine to Queensland at their Italian restaurant in 1958. In 1996, Dean Merlo established the Merlo Torrefazione – an Italian style coffee roasting house in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. It was the beginning of the coffee revolution in Queensland. Merlocoffee has since grown into one of the country’s leading espresso coffee companies selling much more that just beans.
